When I started watching this DVD, I thought at first that I was having technical difficulties. That’s because the scenes had no sound, apart from a steady electrical hum. No problems with the volume on my TV, or with the DVD player—or, for that matter, with the DVD, since the main menu has a perfectly clear soundtrack. The problem is simply that the movie was made in a language other than English, and no one thought it was worth the expense of dubbing any voices or music over the wiped dialogue track.

   It’s probably just as well. I often find that certain porn movies are better watched with the volume off and with a soundtrack of my own choosing on my stereo. In the case of “Double Dip,” I’m not sure that I really want to know what anyone was saying. The gritty, seedy scenes pretty much speak for themselves.

   The first scene opens with two guys apparently in the process of hiring a hooker, or paying a stripper for some extra service. They’re in a somewhat small space decorated with the exotic trappings of some house of ill repute. The lady in question is a tall blonde in a white dress, who peels aside her dress top to expose her breasts (and they are very nice tits) as one guy shows her wads of cash (I can’t quite make out the exact currency—I was thinking that I could figure out where the film was made). The guy with the cash, incidentally, seems to be the Main Guy in this movie, since he seems to be the only one who’s in every single scene. The bright lighting and close nature of the shots take away from the sexiness, and the lack of sound is the final damper on this idea (if a woman’s going to lick her own juices off a guy’s fingers, either the angles have to change once in a while, the lighting should be low, or she should be panting with lust—preferably all three). When the guy starts repeating the process but with his finger moving from her ass to her mouth a bunch of times, it’s definitely too old and too clinical to be hot.

   The scene is finally brought back to life when he sits back on the couch and the woman unbuttons him and gives a long blowjob, going down all the way and licking balls as two other guys arrive on the scene and whip their cocks out. There are a lot of oral closeups, and also some great closeups of her double penetration, and she does get both cocks into her mouth near the end (which is a double oral cumshot).

   The fourth and final scene begins with a hot blonde in white lingerie, sitting in a chair and masturbating slowly through the thin fabric of her panties.    For a mid-budget foreign picture with no sound, this one’s not so bad. It’s down and dirty, to the point, concentrating on crotches and cum, diving into the hard-pounding action and showing us the gritty details. If what you’re looking for is quick, hot, and nasty, this one could work. In the whole spectrum of adult movies, though, this one’s not high on the list. Aside from the lack of sound, it’s a bit too bright, some shots go on for too long, and while the women all look good, the guys look somewhat weird and on occasion appear downright disturbing. Of course, the movie lacks mood, sensuality, and all that, but this kind of movie doesn’t pretend to go for that sort of thing; but even within the category of “to the point” movies, this one’s not near the top of the list. It’s kind of like the X-rated equivalent of the sort of bad movie you’d find playing at 3:00 a.m. in some two-star hotel in Eastern Europe.
