Jenna Jamison shows us just how hot fantasy can be

The premise: cranky sexless Sarah (played by Jenna Jamison) gets sucked into a fantasy world called Sidalia, by two faeries to ‘save fantasy’ from the evil Vladmir. She sets out on an epic journey through many perils to rescue the world from being deprived of fantasy forever. Little does she know, the evil Vladmir has fallen prey to her lustful beauty, and is hell-bent on keeping her, and fantasy, for his own.

A wee bit abstract, I'll admit, but I've seen regular fantasy movies that have weaker plots.

In my circle of geek-friends, this film is legendary. After all, it's the closest thing they're ever going to get to D&D porn. It's a tribute to every fantasy geek's wet dream. Hey, if any hot girl is going to rescue fantasy, it ought to be Jenna Jamison!

Now, this was actually one of the first full-length adult films I ever watched, and it kind of set the bar high for me. I personally hold this film responsible for my near-snooty standards when it comes to modern porn. Director Brad Armstrong really went out of his way on this one to get a look and feel that leaves nothing to imagination.

The costumes and make-up in this film are fabulous (especially the women). ALL of the female actors in this flick could pass for Victoria Secret models. The other types of characters, like the ogre, or Vladmir actually have good FX make-up, as opposed to looking like they're wearing a rubber mask. Trust me, it could be a lot worse- especially in a fantasy movie.

This movie is about 50% girl-on-girl (Jenna fucks nearly every female in the film) and 50% girl-on-guy (some of which are threesomes). All very well done, and the well-dressed faeries just make it better. The scene near the beginning with Arachna is HOT. It’s hard to find any faults with the level of eroticism in this film.

This is a Wicked Pictures film, directed by the boy from my own home town, Brad Armstrong. It was made back around 2000 when he was still married to Jenna.

Now, the acting is not Hollywood level, and neither is the writing. But that hardly matters. Dreamquest uses much the same formula as many other pornographic films. While not being the usual shot-in-some-dude's-mansion low budget porn, I wouldn't call it high budget either. However, I can easily see how a little bit of creativity gave this film that extra level of sophistication. Namely, simple costumes, a good hair stylist, and a shitload of body glitter. Sometimes that's all it takes.

I like that it was shot mostly in an outdoor forest setting (or at least, that's what it seemed to be)- the lighting is very flattering, and nothing beats naked Jenna swimming in a forest pool.

The soundtrack was a nice change from the usual- varying between mellow celtic style instrumentals, and something that sounded a little like Gregorian chant. It may well have been royalty-free stock music, but either way it contributed well to the ambiance without being obtrusive to the film itself.

Unexpected Buzz kill: the Faerie named Summer who squawks like some kind of bird when she gets really into it. Other than that, it was smooth sailing.
