I'm a 24 year old married woman in an open relationship, bisexual, and a writer. I love reading, especially about human sexuality. I enjoy porn and erotica of all flavors, especially because it opens my eyes to the variety of the human sexual experience! I'm pretty nerdy, but I've been told that nerd sex is the best sex. Who am I to argue with that? I love when women orgasm, and I love how visually stimulating fetish and bondage pornography can be. Hurray for corsets!

Ice Pearl
The Ice Pearl from Mypleasure looks really cute and non-threatening. A few years ago I decided I’d take a big step and treat myself to my very first vibrator. I did a lot of shopping, and eventually settled on the Ice Pearl.
I liked the fact that it didn’t look strange (no weird butterfly or rabbit ears or cat paws or anything like that) (not “realistic!” or bulbous or super large or scary looking). The Ice Pearl is white, kind of, well, pearly, and only five inches long, which seemed good enough to satisfy, but not scary enough that I thought it was too much to handle. It also is small enough for easy and discrete hiding and/or storage.
I thought the fact that it was a g-spot vibrator would be fun, too, as I liked to have my gspot fingered, why not have it vibrated, too? It also has a multi-speed option, which was really appealing for a sex toy newbie, because I had heard stories that vibrators with too strong of a vibration could numb the area, and who wants that?
The number one selling point for me on this (aside from that fact that it’s really cheap! Under $15) was that it was water proof. At the time I had the perfect shower. PERFECT. And I thought this would be a great toy for it.
So, I got my Ice Pearl, as well as another toy, from MyPleasure. At first I was very intimidated by the buzzing – it seemed so strong and loud! But it was really pretty. The color is nice, the texture is soft and inviting. After going out and buying batteries (because these toys aren’t built in with everlasting power sources, you know!) I finally settled down and gave the Ice Pearl a try.
I tried it on low on my nipples, and that was nice, but not too exciting, and then I tried it on low on my clit. Despite how strong it felt in my hand, the sensation wasn’t really anything that I needed to worry about. The low setting was almost not enough for me to even feel anything at all, which surprised me for as loud as the sound was. So, I moved it up to the higher setting, and then higher, and then finally, inserted it.
As far as being a gspot vibrator, it works fine. The multi-settings are nice, but I found out quickly that gspot vibrators are not for me. The little curve at the tip of the vibe just rubs the wrong way. Even though the outside of the vibe is nice and soft, the inside is still hard and shaped, and that just doesn’t not contour well with my insides. Maybe it works for other women, but not for me. So, to be perfectly honest, I was surprised with how uncomfortable the gspot tip was! And I also learned that if you like thrusting or in and out motions at all, the curved gspot tip defiantly does not work. It rubs the wrong way, and it hurts!
Also, the vibrations weren’t as nice as I would have liked. I guess I saw too much porn, or read too much erotica about women and their vibrators, but I really expected something to rock my world, but nothing of the sort happened. I just found myself getting more and more frustrated, wanting to orgasm already, but the area just needed more and more intensity until I had the vibrator on full blast and still wasn’t getting anywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I liked to play with my vibe sometimes, but it took me so long to climax that it usually just wasn’t worth it.
The Ice Pearl, while having multi speeds, broke on me about my second or third time using it. It suddenly went from off to MAX SPEED, and no longer had anything in between. I don’t know if I broke it, or if it was just cheaply made (it was cheaply bought) but if it brags about having multi speeds and the multi speed function only works twice, I feel as if that’s a little bit of a rip-off. (but maybe that’s what we poor starving artists get for only being able to afford cheap toys!)
One thing I did like about the Ice Pearl was that it was waterproof. One of the very first self love tips I got was from a great family friend. She said, “all a woman needs is a steady stream of water.” The Ice Pearl and a “steady stream of water” do work well together if you need just that little extra something something in the shower. My one complaint about the Ice Pearl’s waterproof capabilities is that after a while it got a little rusty where you screwed in the battery. I suppose it’s not as watertight as it claimed? Or maybe I just didn’t clean it up well enough.
Eventually the nice Ice Pearly finish out the outside started pealing a bit, and I wasn’t using it anymore (or liking it anymore) so I threw my very first sex toy, the Ice Pearl, away. No hard feelings, though, because I’ve learned a lot about my own sexuality, sex toys and sexual health since then.
If you like gspot vibes, this one would be great, but if you like something more ideal for in and out play, it kind of hurts. The multi-speed function is sensitive, so if you get a bit rough, you might break it (like I did), and the water proof function is fun, but eh, I’ve had better. All in all, the Ice Pearl was a fun adventure, but not one I’d embark on again.
