Why are pornos so long now?

Okay....I understand that everyone wants to get more for their money. And, especially with the economy the way it is, value for the dollar is important to everyone. That's what helps drive people to the BOGO (buy one, get one) sales and all-you-can-eat buffets.
But with porn? Sure, who wouldn't love to get a thicker Playboy or Playgirl for the same price? You can look at it at your leisure and flip to the interesting bits (or articles, if you're still in denial that you've ever read a dirty magazine). I just can't understand why pornos are so long now, though....
Who really needs four-to-six hours of people inserting things into various orifices in order to get off? Do you really take that long, or is it back to the old adage of "bigger (or more) is better?"
Remember when pornographic movies were made to be shown in the movie theater? And when they and new movies were released on VHS, you usually got 2 hours worth of good sex and, occasionally, a decent plot. If you bought one of the loop tapes you knew that it would be 3 hours or more of only sexy bits and you expected that 'cause it was to be (1) viewed at a party or (2) played on fast-forward.
Now there are chapters upon chapters of dialog, scene set-up, and exposition before you get to the actual sex. And then there's more on top of that! True, the DVD format makes it easier to skip parts you don't like than what you had to do with the old VHS tapes.
This blog entry is really an open call for opinions,too. Have you, really, seriously ever sat down and watched an entire 4-to-6 hour long porno from start to finish? With no fast-forward use? And no pausing?
After about 30 minutes to an hour, most have had their fun and are ready to go again or take a long nap. What is it that keeps your attention for that long, non-stop, without wanting to pull your own head off (no pun intended!)?
