Hi all!
So, it's taken me long enough, but I've been going through the advice on promoting and such and I ran across this from Rebecca (SoccerMom): "One thing to be careful of though (and this goes for everyone): You don't want to copy your reviews or even parts of your reviews word-for-word to your website. The search engines will actually penalize you for this, and that is bad." I had no idea about this. Can anyone explain to me how and why this works? I've been posting small exerts of my reviews onto my blogs and such and linking to adult maven, thinking I'd give a "sneak peak" and direct people to AM. So, based off of this advice, it would be better if I wrote a new little synopsis, rather than quoting myself? I just was curious, and wanted to double check (for optimal effectiveness!) Thanks! |

What you are doing is actually fine. The parts of my reviews that I copy and put up as a sneak peak are from the summary part of the reviews. You know, that little blurb that shows up on the front page.
It all has to do with page rank, the inter-workings of Google and a number of other things. Duplicate content on the web gets rated lower when it comes to these things because the search engine spiders can't index duplicate content properly not knowing where the original content is posted.
